Turkey has finalized a deal to export 48 domestically made fighter jets to Indonesia, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Wednesday.
The aircraft, known as the Kaan, are fifth-generation fighter jets that are still in development by the state-run Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

“As part of the agreement signed with our friendly and brotherly country Indonesia, 48 Kaan fighter jets will be produced in Turkey and exported to Indonesia,” Erdoğan wrote on X.
He also noted that Indonesia’s domestic capabilities would be utilized in the production process, though he did not elaborate on the specific details of the collaboration.
Turkey’s defense sector, which includes the widely known Bayraktar drones, contributes significantly to the country’s export economy. In 2024 defense industry export revenues rose to $7.1 billion — an increase of $1.6 billion compared to the previous year.
